Hobbies:

  • Writing. I write stories, primarily science fiction and horror, which I then revise, submit, and occasionally manage to sell for publication. While my chosen career path is in fiction, I also dabble in nonfiction essays, blogging, and the rare snippet of poetry.
  • Reading. A requisite for the territory, and the greatest treat you can offer the imagination.
  • Art. I prefer a variety of drawing media, especially pencil, ink, pastel, charcoal, watercolor, and colored pencil.
  • Music, which I listen to constantly; each of my stories has its own private soundtrack. I also play guitar. My band is on indefinite hiatus, but it provided me with one of the most incredible years of my life.
  • Computers. I have designed websites for over a decade, primarily using various graphics editors and raw HTML code (although I’ve finally surrendered to the astonishing ease of WordPress), and enjoy blogging, digital art, and the potential of the Internet among other gateways to the future.
  • Video games, which I don’t have time to play anymore; I used to play games like Halo, Splinter Cell, and Call of Duty before college and writing consumed my existence.
  • Movies. I’m a film fanatic, and show no signs of recovery. Favorites include Minority Report, Control, The Empire Strikes Back, Fight Club, True Grit, The Shawshank Redemption, Moon, Inception, The Mist, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
  • Biking, walking, and lifting weights. Of all my hobbies, this one sadly gets neglected the most.

My nonfiction essay “Finding the Cure,” and any other autobiographical blog posts, can be found in the Autobiography category.
